Spa repair safety tips

Congratulations! You've decided to perform your own spa maintenace, and we know you can do it. We're here to help you. A good place to start is with an awareness of safety.

When you work on your spa, it is important to remember that you are working with two incompatible elements: electricity and water. Often when a hot tub malfunctions the ultimate problem will be found in the electrical system. If there is a short, causing electrical current to actually leak into the water, the GFCI should shut off the spa. If the GFCI does not turn the spa off, however, you must remember to do so before working with any of the electrical components which could cause shock or electrocution. There is information on evaluating heating components in our Troubleshooting Guide.
