Learn About Spa Heaters

Spa Heaters

Without a heater, there’s not much use for a spa. Spa heaters are probably the most temperamental piece of equipment we deal with at Spa Care Center, but don’t assume that your spa heater is broken immediately if your spa will not heat. It’s possible that the heater might just need to be reset. The Hi-Limit Switch can be tripped easily, causing the heater not to activate. Often, getting your spa back to the desired temperature is as easy as locating the Hi-Limit Switch and pressing the red button (the only part of the switch that should be visible without opening the control box). Give that red button, often called the heater reset button, a push. If you hear a click, or see a heater indicator light come on that wasn’t on before, the problem is solved.

Tripping this switch can be prevented by keeping the filter unclogged. An old, dirty, or clogged filter is the most common cause for the turnoff of the Hi-Limit Switch. You can test this by running the spa without the filter for a couple of days. If this solves the problem, you may need to buy a new filter.

Of course, not all problems with spa heaters can be solved by pressing the red button. SpaCare.com is your online home for spa heater parts, including replacement controls from Balboa Instruments. These include:
